microFIT

What is the microFIT Program

The microFIT program is part of Ontario’s feed-in tariff (FIT) program and is North America’s first guaranteed pricing structure for various forms of renewable electricity production.

If you are a homeowner, farmer or small business owner, you have the opportunity to develop a very small or “micro” solar electricity generation project (10 kilowatts or less in size) on your property. Under the microFIT Program, you will be paid a guaranteed price for all the electricity your project produces for at least 20 years.

Pricing Schedule for the microFIT Program - Solar Photovoltaic’s - PV systems:

Systems of 10kW and less you receive: 80.2 cents/kWh for 20 years guaranteed
Rooftop, Ground Mount, BIPV

Ontario’s microFIT and feed-in tariff (FIT) program are an essential part of Green Energy and Green Economy Act that was introduced into the Ontario Legislature on February 23, 2009 which was passed into law on May 14, 2009.

Other countries, particularly Germany, Spain and Denmark, all have successfully used Feed-In Tariff's or FIT's to encourage the development of renewable energy projects.
Also gaining tremendous popularity in the US, some states and municipalities for example Gainesville in Florida recognize that feed-in tariff's or FIT's are the preferred method for people to invest and generate revenue from Solar Energy.
